Columbian Industries is a community-focused non-profit organization that provides housing, training, activities and inclusive employment opportunities to persons with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to ensure everyone can be an active and valued member of our community, able to pursue opportunities and choices in all aspects of their daily lives.

The story of our non-profit.
In 1983 a member of the Knights of Columbus was driven to provide social vocation and residence to people with intellectual disabilities. In that pursuit, funding was received for the construction of our agency workshop which opened only a few years later.
Today, we are passionate members of the community who continue to maintain our belief that everyone has worth, dignity and the freedom to choose.
Services
Day Programs for Adults
We provide personalized programming for the specific needs and abilities of each participant. To encourage them to form meaningful relationships, we encourage our participants to choose the program they would like to take part in.
We seek to create a wide variety of opportunities for our participants to support their independence and the development of active lifestyles.
Group Homes for those with intellectual disabilities.
We want to give everyone the chance to develop their independence. That’s why our team helps participants in both of our group homes to develop the skills and habits they need to embrace their independence fully. With the support of healthy meals and planned recreational activities, it’s just like home.
Recycling Depots
Making sure that your used bottles and cans don’t end up in a landfill is an important part of building a sustainable ecosystem in our community. We want to make that process easier for you with our locally-accessible recycling depots.
Looking to give your used bottles and cans a new life? Columbian Industries owns and operates Sarcan Recycling Depot in Cudworth and Wakaw. We accept beverage containers, household electronics, paint, batteries and household glass containers.
Supported Independent Living
Designed to support persons with intellectual disabilities, our Supported Independent Living program teaches and assists those who are living on their own in our community. We support our participants in developing socialization skills, basic problem solving, decision making, self-reliance and the ability to make choices.
We seek to help more participants experience an activity lifestyle in our community.
